Out of the box Knowing there’s no sense keeping prized artwork in storage, the museum designed display space for an additional 1,000 works. The new Herzfeld Center for Photography and Media Arts includes Stanley Landsman’s 1968 Walk-In Infinity Chamber, which surrounds visitors with so many points of light that they feel like they’re standing in space.
Shedding new light Paintings look sharper thanks to smarter use of sunlight and LEDs. We also love the new chronological arrangement of the displays that encourages visitors to trace the evolution of art forms.
