  • In a small bowl, stir together tahini or peanut butter and tamari or soy sauce; set aside.

  • In a wok or very large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the garlic, gingerroot, and crushed red pepper. Cook and stir 30 seconds.

  • Add the cooked grains to mixture in wok; stir to break up any clumps. Continue stirring for about 5 minutes or till the grains are somewhat crisp.

  • Add vegetables; stir just to combine. Stir in tahini mixture until combined. Cook and stir for 1 to 2 minutes more or until heated through, but vegetables remain crisp. (If necessary, stir in 1 to 3 teaspoons water if mixture seems too thick.) Makes 6 side-dish servings.
