Allow butter to stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. In small bowl or on a large plate, stir together softened butter, chives, lemon peel, garlic, and salt until well combined. Transfer to a sheet of waxed paper. Shape into a 4-inch-long roll. Wrap in waxed paper; twist ends like a tootsie roll to seal. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or until firm. Makes about 1/2 cup.
