For marinade, in a small bowl, combine the Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, sugar,and garlic. Mix well. Rinse salmon; pat dry. Place the salmon fillets in a shallow dish; pour the marinade over the fillets. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
Remove salmon from marinade; discard marinade. Sprinkle cracked pepper onto both sides of each salmon fillet.
In a 12-inch skillet, cook salmon in hot oil over medium-high heat for 2 to 4 minutes per side or until salmon flakes easily with a fork. Makes 4 servings.
