In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add eggs, milk, and cooking oil or melted shortening. Beat until smooth. Stir in corn and crumbled bacon. Turn into a greased 9x9x2-inch baking pan.
Bake the corn bread in a 425 degree F oven for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 8 or 9 servings.
