  • In a large saucepan, combine butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring until butter melts and mixture is smooth, stirring frequently. Remove from heat; cool slightly.

  • Stir in syrup. Stir in eggs, one at a time. Stir in banana, vanilla and, if desired, maple flavoring. Stir in flours, baking powder, salt and cinnamon. Stir in half the walnuts and all the cranberries.

  • Spread batter in a greased 13x9x9-inch baking pan. Sprinkle with remaining walnuts. Bake at 350° for 20 to 25 minutes or until a wooden toothpick inserted near center comes out clean. Cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Cut into bars.
