Cut bread into 1-inch cubes. Arrange half of the bread in a single layer in a greased 13x9x2-inch baking dish (3-quart rectangular).
Cut the cream cheese into 1-inch cubes. Arrange on top of bread in dish.
Combine cranberries and sugar. Sprinkle over bread and cream cheese. Top with the remaining bread cubes.
In a large bowl, beat together the eggs, milk, and maple syrup. Pour over bread mixture in pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Cover and chill overnight.
Remove from refrigerator and let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Bake, covered, in a 350 degree oven for 45 minutes. Uncover and bake 20 minutes more or until a knife inserted off center comes out clean. Let stand 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm with Orange Sauce. Makes 12 servings.
In a small saucepan, combine cornstarch and sugar. Stir in orange juice. Cook and stir until over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Add snipped dried cranberries and butter or margarine; cook and stir 2 minutes more. Serve warm.
