  • Cut loaf of bread in half horizontally. Wrap one half and use for another purpose. Hollow out the other half, leaving a 1/2-inch shell. Spread mustard over inside of bread shell. Spread cheese in the bottom of the bread shell. Sprinkle the cheese spread with Parmesan cheese.

  • Place on a baking sheet and bake in a 400 degree F oven for about 15 minutes or until the cheese begins to bubble. Cut the appetizer into 12 wedges.

  • Place hot bread on a serving plate. Arrange apple slices around the bread. Garnish with fresh herbs and/or small chili peppers, if you like. Makes 12 servings.
