In a small saucepan, mix orange juice, sugar and five-spice powder. Bring to boiling, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Reduce heat; simmer the mixture, uncovered, for 10 minutes.
In large bowl, toss together assorted papaya, kiwifruit, pineapple, starfruit and hot syrup, gently stirring to mix. Cover and chill for up to 6 hours. Before serving, garnish the fruit with fresh mint or shaved coconut, if you like. Makes 6 servings.
