  • Thaw peaches (don't drain off juice). Cut up peaches. Grease a 2-quart square (8x8x2-inch) baking dish. Set aside

  • In a large bowl, combine the undrained peaches, white-bread cubes and raisins.

  • In a medium bowl, stir together eggs, fruit juice, sugar, buttermilk or sour milk, vanilla, and almond flavoring. Pour over bread mixture; fold together.

  • Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Top with cherry halves. Dot with butter or margarine.

  • Bake in a 350 degree F oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until a knife inserted off-center comes out clean. Makes 9 servings.

To make 1/2 cup sour milk, place 1-1/2 teaspoons lemon juice or vinegar in a glass measuring cup. Add enough milk to make 1/2 cup liquid; stir. Let the mixture stand for 5 minutes before using it in a recipe.
