  • In a large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add mushrooms and cook 8 to 10 minutes or until tender and all liquid has evaporated.

  • In a large bowl, combine mushrooms, turkey, onion, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Do not overwork. Form into four 3/4-inch thick patties.

  • Place patties on the greased rack of a grill directly over medium heat. Cover and grill 14 to 18 minutes or until no longer pink (160°F), turning once halfway through grilling time.

*Variation

The mushrooms really do wonders for ground turkey, which is often so dry as a burger. But this recipe can be made with any ground meat (beef, pork, lamb, chicken), and you'll get the same benefits -- extra nutrients and juiciness from the secret 'shrooms and less cholesterol, fat and calories from meat.

*Prep Tip

A food processor is ideal for finely chopping the mushrooms, but a large chef's knife is fine, too.
