Date-nut desserts can be cloyingly sweet, but orange juice brightens these simple bars.
In a medium mixing bowl combine eggs, orange juice, and butter. Set aside.
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Stir in dates and walnuts. Toss lightly with a fork to coat dates and nuts with the flour mixture. Add egg mixture; mix well.
Spread batter into a greased 8x8x2-inch baking pan. Bake in a 350° oven about 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack. If desired, drizzle bars with Orange Icing.
In a small bowl stir together powdered sugar and orange juice concentrate, or orange juice. Stir until a drizzling consistency.
