How To: Make a Beautiful Buffet

Hi, I'm Annie from the food blog Annie's Eats and I'd like to share some of my tips for setting a beautiful holiday table. I always use a tablecloth as the foundation for my party spread. A nice way to do this is to use a piece of fabric from a fabric store rather than buying an actual tablecloth because it's cheaper and it affords you more design options. Hanging something such as a garland or Christmas lights over your buffet table can really draw the focus to the table and add an extra level of décor and aesthetic to the room. Plain white serving dishes are pretty much always a winner when you're entertaining because they're not going to clash with anything that you serve. Cake stands are not just for cakes. I like to use them to serve any kind of appetizer or other party food. They add a lot of visual interest to the buffet with varying heights. Over the years, I've learned that people are not going to be the first to cut into a full-size cake or pie, so it's a better idea to serve small appetizers or finger foods. Labeling the foods that you serve is always a good idea because it allows you to mingle with your guests and they don't need to ask you exactly what's being served. It's just a nice way to put them at ease.
