Midwest Living Review
In the heart of Turkey Run State Park, the Turkey Run Inn is a popular lodging option for Parke County tourists and outdoor enthusiasts. Near several of the county's most popular covered bridges, the inn has traditional rooms, as well as cabins and two small houses ($52-204). Prices are highest on holiday weekends and throughout October. Amenities at Turkey Run Inn include a swimming pool, a rustic gift shop and the home-style Narrows restaurant. Our favorite spot is the second-floor balcony, where guests can relax in a rocking chair after a long day of exploring Parke County. If you're planning to eat dinner at the Narrows restaurant, arrive early; dinner hours are 5-8 p.m., even during peak periods. Although the menu includes pastas and salads, stick with home-style favorites like fried chicken platters and pork tenderloin sandwiches. At breakfast, look for traditional options like fluffy pancakes, fried potatoes and country skillets. A note of caution: If you're planning to visit during the Covered Bridge Festival in October, make your reservation as far in advance as possible. Many festival regulars book one or even two years ahead.
