Midwest Living Review

Melanie Radzicki
Quench your thirst with a frosty mug of root beer while taking a nostalgic stroll down memory lane.

Museum shops commemorate everything from mustard to Spam, so why not root beer? Reed Andrew’s thoughts exactly. Years ago, Reed began collecting root beer and the bottles and cans in which it was packaged. As his collection grew, he decided to open a place where he could showcase root beer from around the world and sell the frothy stuff.

Tucked into the Bavarian Village near the Glockenspiel, Root Beer Revelry serves three types of root beer on tap: Princess Potosa, Sprecher and 1919 (the first two are made in Wisconsin; 1919 is produced in Minnesota). Enjoy a frosty mug, or pop for a root beer float ($2.50 to $5.50). Those who aren’t fans can sip Key lime, orange, black cherry or cream soda instead.

Don't forget to stock up on some root beer for the road. The shop carries 50 different brands, and mixing and matching is allowed. There's also a small selection of gift items for sale, including root beer kits, gift baskets and t-shirts. Though Andrew doesn't have a bona fide museum in his shop yet, he does have a small selection of his root beer collection on display, mainly old bottles and cans. A tiny TV set plays old root beer commercials, and there’s an eternally flowing root beer can in the window.
