Midwest Living Review

Melanie Radzicki
This Chula Vista Resort steakhouse is all about big servings and big flavors.

Bring a hearty appetite to Kaminski Bros., patterned after Manny's Steakhouse in Minneapolis, where size matters and massive portions are de rigueur.

This upscale steakhouse sits in an upper floor of Chula Vista Resort overlooking the scenic Wisconsin River. Serving dinner only, the restaurant showcases corn-fed, dry-aged, center-cut beef: filets, New York strips, porterhouses and ribeyes. Fresh fish, pork chops, lamb and tortellini are also offered, as well as a respectable wine list with more than 100 varieties. Entrees run $18 to $160, topping out with a Surf 'n Turf featuring a 12-ounce filet and 32-ounce lobster. Drinks are pricy, too, with wines at $10 or $12 per glass.

All entrees come with a "garbage salad," tossed tableside with every diner selecting his or her own ingredients. If you think the entree won't be enough, there is a small menu of appetizers and sharable sides, the most popular being the Mashed Potatoes Fully Loaded ($17), a hefty 3.5-pound serving with green onions, cheese and bacon chunks topped with sour cream. Doggie bags are to be expected.

Service is generally good, although can get slow when the restaurant is full. Reservations are a smart idea. Don't forget to pose for a photo beside the giant meat cleaver in the foyer.
