Midwest Living Review
Let's face it. It's hard to resist a fast-food joint with carhops, much less carhops on roller skates. That's why Rudy's Drive in Restaurant in La Crosse is such a hit. The eatery is quite spacious, with booths inside for those who aren't into the carhop thing, plus an amazing 40 drive-up stations, along with a smattering of picnic tables. The carhops whiz out of the restaurant the minute you pull up; only moments later, they're skating back out with your food. And it's good, at least according to current standards for fast food. You can order all of the typical fast-food menu items, including burgers, hot dogs and chicken nuggets, plus fries, onion rings and soft-serve ice cream. Rudy's also offers healthful options, such as walnut burgers and grilled chicken sandwiches, plus its famous root beer, served in frosted mugs. Prices are typical for fast-food joints; about $1.50 to $5 for hamburgers and $1.50 to $3.50 for ice cream novelties. Coupons are often available on the restaurant's website, so check before you go.
