Midwest Living Review

This uncommonly kid-friendly B&B is a real-life Old MacDonald's Farm.

Rainbow Ridge Farms Bed and Breakfast offers guests (and their kids) an authentic down-on-the-farm experience, complete with goats, sheep, pigs, ducks and chores. Visitors who want to just enjoy the ambience can sit back and relax, but for those eager to get their hands dirty (and who don't mind the barnyard smells), Rainbow Ridge provides a wonderful chance to play farmer for a night or a weekend.

Owners Cindy Hehne and Donna Murphy go out of their way to welcome children, making Rainbow Ridge an incredibly family-friendly B&B. Kids get to feed and milk the goats and gather eggs for breakfast, a priceless learning opportunity for city slickers. Springtime visitors can even experience the miracle of birth, holding newborn baby goats and feeding lambs their first bottles.

The farmhouse has four simple rooms (each $94 from November through March; $99 from April through October); two rooms can be rented together ($170 November through March; $185 April through October) for a family package. Breakfasts are served family-style and feature, as you’d expect, farm-fresh eggs and bacon.
