Midwest Living Review
Opened in 2007, Brasserie V has been embraced by its historic neighborhood, and anyone dedicated to eating local, sustainable, healthy foods will appreciate this brasserie. The burger is the star here. It's served at the perfect temperature with fresh toppings that complement but not overwhelm the burger. Fountain Prairie Farm (Fall River, Wisconsin) dry-aged Highland ground beef fill the V burger ($10) -- topped with beer-battered onion straws, Muenster cheese, spinach, tomato and traditional aioli on toasted sourdough bread -- and the V burger II ($11) -- topped with Nueske's bacon, herbed cream sauce, spinach, tomato and cheddar or provolone cheese on a toasted ciabatta roll. These moist, tasty burgers take burgers to a whole new level. Sides are additional: frites with aioli dipping sauces are $4 and salads $7. Come for lunch, dinner and late-night fare (but it's closed when popular football games are scheduled at the nearby University of Wisconsin).
