Midwest Living Review

A noteworthy stop for architecture buffs, Lake Mills' neo-Gothic library is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Designed by George Ferry and built in 1902 with funds donated by L.D. Fargo, this neo-Gothic library was constructed with hardcaps, or stones, from area farms. Fargo had three stipulations for his gift: that the library be named for him, that it have a Bible, and that it have a room for women's club meetings. An addition was added in 1960; in 1980, a fire caused heavy damage. The library is on the National Register of Historic Places and is worth a peek if you have a particular interest in history or architecture.
