Midwest Living Review

Whether it's cocktails and hors d'oeuvres before dinner or a full night of noshing and exotic drinks, the Winery is the perfect lounge spot.

It's the winding stone-walled walk downstairs to The Winery that gets you in the mood for lounging, and the extensive drink offerings that keep you there. The wine list boasts nearly 400 vintages, and every specialty drink is available in a nonalcoholic version as well, so no one feels left out. The Midnight Rain mocktail has fresh blackberries, raspberries, pineapple and cranberry juices pressed into soda, presented in a lovely slim glass. Feeling especially bold? There's even a $65 Gran Patron and Grand Marnier margarita, and of course you'll find Dom Perignon. If you get hungry, try a sophisticated cheese flight, or maybe maki and tabiko rolls, bruschetta, or sirloin carpaccio. The small menu sampling is enough to keep you sated, whether you're hanging out for the night or eventually dining next door at The Immigrant. Located on the lower level of the American Club, The Winery feels like a hidden hot spot in the castle chambers of some faraway land, some faraway time. Its intimate, low-lit, cozy seating, with the grand piano tucked into the curtained corner, makes this the perfect spot for lingering and indulging. The Winery is open Monday through Saturday at 5:30 p.m., but it's closed on Sunday.
