Midwest Living Review
This 23-business strong upscale strip mall, located on a lake about five blocks from the American Club, has pretty much everything you need to spend a satisfied vacation shopping day. You'll find gift shops, clothing boutiques, a wine and cigar lounge, a dinner spot, a chocolatier, a gourmet grocery, toys, home furnishings, an art gallery -- even a yoga spot. Pick up a book on specialty cheese or a hand-knit sweater at the Wisconsin Trader, guaranteed to get you in the spirit of the state. Browse lotions and lingerie at Scentualities, and cover them with boutique items from either Kacia or Sweet Potato's. The Movers and Shakers Toy Store is a great spot to send dad with the kids, but don't expect them to return to you anytime soon -- the circular layout, castle-theme decor will keep them going around and around for hours. Kohler Gardener is a favorite among tourists and locals alike, with books, soaps, candles, stationery, and other gift items and house wares, along with seasonal outdoor plants. It's safe to say there's a little something for everyone, and plenty for some. Shop proprietors band together for several events throughout the year, from sidewalk sales to ice skating on the lake in the winter. The shops are generally open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5 p.m., but some shops are open at different times, particularly the eating establishments. Call the general information number and get a helpful, live person on the other line.
