Midwest Living Review
With a name like I Love Funky's, customers know right away that this is a store that knows how to have fun. For starters, the boutique's colors are black and purple, and there's a real taxidermied lion in the lower level.
This eclectic three-level shop opened in 2010 and offers an intriguing inventory. The lower level contains premium American-made leather furniture and some interesting large-scale antiques, including bed frames and bars. There are also lamps, clocks and other accessories, plus some unusual salvaged architectural pieces like an old door from the Middle East. And if you’re in the market for a stuffed water buffalo head, you’ve come to the right place. The upper level holds more of the same, along with some downright funky stuff like a full-size porcelain urinal, the fourth book in a series titled Milwaukee Hospital for the Insane, some kind of purple official-looking uniform and more stuffed animals.
The main level is the most traditional, with displays of women's clothing and jewelry, including items from the store's nationally recognized collection of vintage pieces. To round out the mix, there’s a small selection of borderline naughty gifts, surprisingly normal kitchenware and baby areas, and finally, a glass case filled with delicious-looking truffles.
