Midwest Living Review
Set in a blue house along County Highway B, about 15 minutes east of Hayward, the cafe offers a vast breakfast menu that covers all the favorites -- from 10 kinds of omelets to spinach Benedict to slow-smoked pit ham. Their lunch menu is not as robust, but offers 15 plus burgers and sandwiches. You won't come for the decor. From the front dining room you can see glimpses of the lake beyond the gravel parking lot and highway. Windows lining this former porch offer plenty of sunshine, but the rest isn't much to look at. Knotty pine plank ceiling, flat industrial carpet, vinyl tablecloths and stacking chairs. But, face it, if you're there for breakfast you probably aren't awake enough yet to notice. Prices aren't outrageous, but this isn't your bargain hole-in-the-wall cafe either. Omelet breakfasts (with hash browns and toast/pancake) run $9.50. The steak and eggs will cost you $15.99. Bring cash or your checkbook. No credit cards accepted.
