Midwest Living Review
This neatly organized organic natural foods store is the only one of its ilk in Door County. Attached is Spa Verde, Wisconsin's first full-service spa to exclusively use green products.
Greens n Grains opened in 2006 in a restored 19th-century mercantile, and the interior retains the hardwood vibe of an old-school general store. The grocery features local produce and meats, brand-name pantry staples, gluten-free products, natural pet supplies, wines and microbrews, environmentally responsible cleaning supplies and much more. The deli at the back of the store is a destination in itself, featuring a selection of raw food and vegetarian cuisine that's anything but boring (the marinated kale is legendary). In addition to organic coffees and teas, there's an extensive freshly pressed juice and smoothie bar ($4.75 and up).
Open since 2011, the Zen-like Spa Verde showcases green products like Hamadi, Neuma and Bella Lucce. The atmosphere is like visiting someone's cozy home—more couches and throw rugs than lockers and Jacuzzis. There are four small treatment rooms for massages, including one designed for couples and one for facials, as well as a hair salon. Pedicures, manicures and acupuncture are also available. Prices are fairly standard for spa services: $45 manicures, $50 pedicures, $30 haircuts and facials starting at $75 for 60 minutes.
