Midwest Living Review
We discovered our inner Chanel at the fun and fragrant blending bar at DIY Studio and Gifts. The pastel and cutesy store fronts the farmers market area on Broadway. Although it is a little hard to find, it’s worth making the effort for made-in-Wisconsin gifts and the DIY art studio. Browsers are welcome, but visitors can stay for hours.
We particularly liked the blending bar, where customers can create a fragrance using more than 225 scents for perfume, cologne, lotion, bubble bath, massage oil, shaving gel, aftershave, hydrator sprays, shampoo and conditioner, bath salts, salt scrubs and even a yoga mat spray. The staff is super helpful and prices are moderate—a customized hand lotion starts at $8, the perfume runs $14.
In addition to blending scents, the studio sells knock-off designer perfumes such as Chanel No. 5 and Dolce and Gabbana. DIYers come year-round for arts and crafts classes, including making beaded bracelets and body bronzers. The store caters to women but merchandise is limited to handmade purses, scarves, jewelry, local art and cards.
