Midwest Living Review
Foodies will surely fall for this spot, offering a variety of cooking classes that Chef Janice Thomas describes as "hands-on workshops." Classes are three hours long and cover a variety of culinary topics, such as Asian Grill, Wood-Fired Breads and Mushroom Madness. Class fees are $25 to $80. After cooking, chef and students enjoy their meal at a table with French linens and fresh flowers. If you get hooked, Thomas also offers "culinary vacations" to France, Italy, China and Mexico in Door County's off-season. The Savory Spoon is housed in a beautifully renovated 1877 schoolhouse in Ellison Bay. In addition to the cooking school, it includes a culinary marketplace that offers chocolates made by an on-site chocolatier, fresh-baked breads, artisanal meats and cheeses, and gourmet cooking utensils.
