Lautenbach's Orchard Country Winery & Market

Door County's famous cherries grow on this 100-acre orchard on the bluffs above Fish Creek. Visitors flock here to pick Montmorency cherries in season (mid July to early August) and to buy a growing array of cherry products from the large red barn that houses the market. You'll find fresh-baked pies, jams, juice, dried fruit and wine. Lautenbach's makes several types of wine everything from dry Cabernet Sauvignon to sweet cherry and other fruit wines using fruit it grows on the property. All are less than $15 a bottle. Take advantage of the interesting walking tour of the orchards and vineyards. (Who knew one cherry tree can produce 7,000 cherries, enough for 28 pies?) The tour includes a visit to the winery production area and a short video of the winemaking process and ends in the tasting room. Cost is $3 per person, including a keepsake wine glass. If you're here in the winter, Mayberry Carriages will take you on a sleigh ride through the orchard and nearby woods, jingling all the way.
