Midwest Living Review

You can get breakfast, lunch or dinner at this new Door County spot in a prime location.

The blend of upscale bistro and down-home Door County comfort becomes apparent as soon as you sit down in the alfresco upper patio of Coopers on the Corner. Plastic lawn chairs scoot up to marble-top tables with cloth napkins, and the menu ranges from simple (yes, you can get a burger or a grilled tenderloin) to the more adventurous, such as wild mushroom strudel with porcini cream, cherry spinach salad with lingonberry vinaigrette, or pan-seared duck breast with peppercorn demi glace. The aptly named Corner restaurant sits at the epicenter of Fish Creek's Main Street shopping district, but its own lot takes the stress out of finding street parking. Space heaters stretch the outdoor dining season, or choose indoor seating in the main restaurant. A two-story waterfall wall, lit with colored lights, splashes between the restaurant and the barrel room gift shop, which entices with wines, fudge, salsas and about 20 varieties of balsamic vinegars lined up in silver kegs. After dinner, a two-block walk west down Main Street takes you to the city park and a view of the sun setting over the Green Bay waters.
