Midwest Living Review
The Dining Room at 209 has built a well-deserved reputation for serving innovative, upscale food unlike anything else you'll find in this corner of southern Wisconsin. The signature item, for example, is the sticky toffee pudding. Tender and saturated with warm toffee sauce, the cakelike pudding tastes just like the British staple, but toasted pecans make it extra-special. Like that dessert, many of the entrees have an international tilt -- habanero-spiced pork, swordfish in a curry sauce -- it's clear that the young chef has fun dreaming up the dishes. (The menu changes regularly.) The food is for the most part delicious and expertly prepared, and the quantities are generous for the price (entrees fall between $20 and $30). Note that the menu online is not only updated regularly, but includes photos of every dish, a nice touch for diners who want to preview the night's offerings before they hit the road to Monticello.
