Midwest Living Review
Fork-tender and richly flavored, the slow-smoked brisket at Carp's Landing will rival even the most memorable you've had. But the meat isn't the only thing Carp's Landing has going for it. This place has a sense of fun, too, with a goldfish tank in the corner (get it? carp?), and a dazzling 29 different sauces for your smoked meat. The brain behind the menu is Greg "Carp" Carpenter, who brings his experience from working in restaurants all over the country to Lake Mills, Wisconsin. His delightful menu offers appe-tasters such as lettuce wraps with chicken, onions and peanuts in teriyaki sauce ($7.95). Combo plates include a seafood trio of grouper bites, tempura shrimp and Korean shrimp ($11.95). For "carp-o-vores," there's the Texas trio of smoked brisket, ribs and pulled pork ($16.95). For just $4, brisket can be added to the all-day Friday fish fry ($8.95-$12.95). Chicken, shrimp, steaks, burgers and salads are also available. Offering creative food at reasonable prices, Carp's is a destination restaurant for families, locals and visitors. The waitstaff is friendly and casual. Live entertainment on Saturday nights in the bar as well as the beer garden and comedy club are also popular.
