Midwest Living Review
Superior Rentals has been under consistent management for about 30 years, and during that time, the owners have clearly developed a perfect feel for quality lodgings and attention to detail. The company owns multiple rental properties around the Bayfield area, including one large property with several rental homes and cabins on Lake Superior just outside Bayfield, and a few condos and rental homes in Bayfield itself. The property a few miles south of town was impeccable during our visit just as tourism season was set to begin around July 4. Garden beds are full of flowers and shade plants and perfectly tended. Solar landscape lights illuminate the grounds at night, and Christmas lights light up deck rails. Lawn furniture and fabric pavilions near the door of each rental unit provide a place to relax or have an outdoor meal. Our unit featured a large deck with gas grills ready and waiting. Guests have access to a small beach (the strip of sand is only about 6 feet wide from grass to water) on a quiet Lake Superior bay, and can check out pedal boats for free use. The interiors are tidy and updated. The furniture may not be the trendiest, but it's a huge step up from the furnishings in many rentals, which often seem to be furnished from thrift stores. Our overall stay at Superior Rentals was thoroughly enjoyable. The property is convenient to Bayfield and the Big Top Chautauqua tent show (2 miles up the road), and at night, the lights of Madeline Island sparkle across the bay.
