Midwest Living Review
Legendary Waters, located 4 miles north of Bayfield, is the closest you'll come to a resort conference center in this small B&B tourism destination. The 78,000-square-foot gaming, convention center, restaurant and hotel complex hugs the Lake Superior shoreline in Red Cliff. The majestic views are so impressive that they warrant the stack of windows. In fact, the actual gaming area is quite small.
The resort boasts 47 rooms, all overlooking Lake Superior. Even during peak summer months, rooms start at just $129 on weekends. The facility was completed in 2011, so everything is modern—flat-screen televisions, marble countertops, comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms, and walk-out rooms to the grassy yard and marina. The fitness center and indoor swimming pool overlook the lake, as does the hot tub, which is accessible from both inside and outside the resort. You'll see evidence of the Red Cliff Tribe's strong connection to the environment in nature photography, neutral colors and natural materials. Open spaces tend to be modern, with sleek furniture, gas fireplaces and neutral carpets.
A couple of down sides. Though we like that some of the food draws on locally sourced ingredients and names inspired by the tribe, the restaurant's selection is small and the food tasted bland for the price. And while the majority of the facility is smoke-free, the casino is not.
