This opera house serves up coffee and sandwiches (and, of course, music).
Goss Opera House & Gallery is an imposing two-story building in downtown Watertown. The first floor includes Common Ground Coffee House, a gallery and gift shop. The second floor is the actual opera house, which is currently being restored. Common Ground is a popular destination for lunch, serving a variety of coffees, sandwiches, salads and pastries. Connecting hallways lead to a maze of rooms and alcoves, all with high-ceilings, creaking floors and exposed brick walls, that house a bookstore, a sitting area and an art gallery. The artwork on display and for sale varies from abstract watercolors to ceramic pieces, many from South Dakota artists.
