This former Carnegie Library is now home to the Codington County Heritage Museum.
The Codington County Heritage Museum is a former Carnegie Library just a block from downtown Watertown. Built in 1906, the Classic Revival structure boasts a broad stone stairway and rich oak interior. Plan about an hour to browse through displays of antique furniture, firearms, military clothing and other Watertown artifacts from the late 1800s. Photos and newspaper pages tell the story of the 1870s and 1880s when Dakota Territory homesteaders flocked to the land office in Watertown to stake their claims. Admission is free.
