Midwest Living Review
Scoops is a traditional ice cream shop that fills a niche in the historic downtown district of Vermillion. It's a pretty simple shop, without lots of frills, serving up ice cream or sherbet, in a dish or cone. Ice cream flavors are typical: chocolate-peanut butter, cookie dough and butter pecan are there among the staples of vanilla and chocolate. The ice cream and sherbet are not house-made; the quality and flavors are in the league of what you might expect in a good quality ice cream from the grocery store. There is seating outside at a table for four, but there isn't an umbrella or any shade to be found. Vermillion does have its share of benches to sit on or shops to go in and out of while enjoying your treat. Scoops fills a niche in downtown Vermillion, but it isn't any more interesting, and certainly is more expensive, than going to a local grocer for your cones and ice cream. However, if you're out and about and hankering for ice cream, it's a good stop. A single scoop on a regular cone is $1.25. Two scoops run $2 and three scoops, $3.
