Midwest Living Review
When the owners of the new (2010) Terry Peak Chalets say the four vacation homes are close to the Terry Peak Ski Area outside Lead, South Dakota, they mean close. The chairlifts are about 30 steps from the back door of the upscale homes. That makes the chalets an obviously ideal headquarters for groups in town to ski, but with their proximity to the gambling town of Deadwood and the Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway (about 15 minutes to each), the chalets are a great base for exploring the northern Black Hills in summer, too. The four chalets all sleep up to 14 people and feature high-end kitchens, fireplaces, decks, big-screen TVs, WiFi, hot tubs and amenities such as foosball tables in the basements. (Daily maid service costs extra.) At $400/night in summer, the chalets may be a bit pricey for one family, but for groups, the luxurious homes not only offer a far more enjoyable stay than a hotel, but a bargain, too.
