Midwest Living Review
Pier 347 serves up lattes, cocoa, sandwiches and breakfast fare in the heart of downtown Pierre. What this coffee house lacks in slick Starbucks-style interior decor, it more than makes up for in homey comfort. Customers chat as they sip, and the hipster staff is constantly steaming more milk. There's lots of friendly ambient noise, which makes a pleasant soundtrack for a downtown coffee shop.
For lunch, the chicken sandwich on sourdough with honey mustard makes an excellent choice (all sandwiches cost $5.49). In keeping with the downtown government theme, most of the sandwiches go by names like the Capitol Club, the Governor (roast beef), the Senator (ham and cheese) and the Congressman (turkey, bacon and Swiss cheese on a bagel).
Along with a variety of seating options, the cafe contains a big-screen TV and a couple of upholstered recliners, but most of the patrons seem more interested in conversation than entertainment. It's a busy gathering place for all ages; shoppers, business folks, Internet users and college students all peacefully co-exist at Pier 347.
