Midwest Living Review
Seldom does a single business work as a triple threat, but The Wine Guy Wine Shop, Wine Bar and Bistro in downtown Gahanna, Ohio, is thriving. With its unpretentious soft loft ambience and an unbeatable corner location–complete with an outdoor dining area fenced by herbs and flowers–in the upscale Creekside Gahanna development, The Wine Guy succeeds at combining wine and dine experiences effortlessly and extremely well.
Exactly what does the Wine Guy offer? First, the shop has an inventory of more than 2,000 wines. It carries $80 bottles of Silver Oak Alexander Valley Cabernet as well as plenty of nice wines in the more affordable $20-$40 range. Second, the wine bar’s preselected flights (most cost $14.99) make it easy to compare different kinds of Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay or Italian wines. Finally, even though the bistro’s menu is limited, its discerning mix of American and Mediterranean dishes complements wines wonderfully. Dinner options include linguini with meatballs ($15.99) and Cajun scallops ($24.99), but for lunch, crusty bruschetta topped with roasted red peppers and ribbons of fresh basil ($9.99) is equally satisfying. The Wine Guy’s concept may seem complex, but it’s actually quite simple: an inviting place to relax, savor good food and sample awesome wines.
