Midwest Living Review
The Candle Lab is a great concept: You choose the scents you like the best (in the quantities you like the best) and create custom soy candle (average price: $15 for medium-size candle). There are 120 different fragrances to choose from. There are the common fragrances, such as lavender, rose, lilac, cinnamon spice and pine needles, as well as the less common ones, including dad's den, whipped cream, earth and tomato leaf. When you walk in, the staff sets you up on at the fragrance-smelling wall, with a pen and clipboard to keep track of your favorite scents. You can flag up to 14 scents. Then comes the fun part: blending your favorites. Don't worry if you're not sure what will "match": The scent specialists advise you which fragrances work well together. After your blend is chosen, you head to the fragrance bar, where the staff helps you mix the essential oils and then pour it into the wax. This part takes about an hour, and then it takes another few hours to set, which gives you a great opportunity to walk around downtown Worthington (lots of good eats and shopping). Owner Steve Weaver has partnered with several of the local businesses to offer packages (including wine tasting, manicures/pedicures, and lunch/dinner) and can host girls' day out, showers, birthday parties and other special occasions.
