Midwest Living Review
Scenic Rock Ledge Inn gets its name from a stunning location on a rocky point overlooking Lake Erie. Despite the area's lakeside development, this place has preserved its water view, and you can see the sunset from the porch or patio of most of the five cottages. The exteriors of the blue, low-slung cottages have a '50s motel feel, but most have been recently renovated inside and out (check when you're making reservations). New kitchenettes, flooring and furniture make the units feel fresh and updated. The bathrooms in some units still suffer from being incredibly small, with only a shower, sink and toilet in a tiny original footprint. Friendly staff is available without being intrusive. The owner -- who resides in the main house, which was a lodging at various times during the last century -- loves to share the story of the home's history and most recent renovation. Guests with an interest in architecture and local history will enjoy learning more about the property's many incarnations, from religious retreat to bed-and-breakfast. Scenic Rock Ledge Inn isn't a luxury resort. The cottages are comfortable but basic, and you won't find on-site dining, boat rental or a guest pool. But you will find privacy; clean, updated rooms; friendly hospitality; and beautiful lake views.
