Midwest Living Review
Top o' the Caves is in Hocking Hills, one of Ohio’s most geographically beautiful areas, but the campground is in need of some significant TLC. Fences are in disrepair; the game room offers visibly worn pool tables and video games in an old barn; and bathrooms are shabby and need a coat of paint. Service is brusque and dismissive, if visitors are even able to reach someone by phone.
There are some inviting areas within the 60-acre campgrounds (a pretty lake, for instance) and the nicest RV section sits in the woods with scenic ravines running alongside. Other sites are located in open fields or beside the road. Accommodation choices include rustic and electric campsites, sleep cabins and lodge rooms with rates starting at $30.
The bottom line: If all you want is a place to sleep before heading out to explore the natural beauty of Hocking Hills, then Top o’ the Caves might fit the bill. But serious campers will probably be disappointed.
