Midwest Living Review
Ohio's Hocking Hills region is never short on comfort food. If you're ready for a break from fried chicken and mashed potatoes, try Millstone BBQ, where you'll enjoy tasty smoked meats in a roomy roadhouse-style building. You won't leave hungry.
Meals begin with a basket stacked with mini corn bread muffins and whipped butter. Entrees stick pretty close to the usual BBQ playlist of ribs, pulled pork, slabs of brisket and the like. Our favorite dish was the Big Bad Wolf, a $10 sandwich loaded with brisket, pepper Jack cheese, onion straws and plenty of sweet sauce. When we wandered away from BBQ staples, the food wasn't as impressive. The grilled shrimp ($16.29 for a dinner entree) could've used more sweet marinade, and the Southwest Chicken Firecrackers appetizer ($7.29) tasted mostly like fried breading dipped in ranch dressing. Overall, though, we enjoyed Millstone, including the friendly, attentive waitstaff. For a casual meal on a Hocking Hills vacation, this is a good choice.
