Midwest Living Review
The official tag line of this monthly food truck gathering is "Convoy of Cleveland's Finest Food Trucks." While the best trucks are usually there, any truck is welcome (and a little mediocrity doesn't really matter when there are so many good choices). On one Saturday each month, the trucks swarm on a single location and dish out food from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (or until they run out). Expect anywhere from five to 10 trucks serving everything from traditional fair favorites to reimagined ethnic eats. If Dim and Den Sum (Asian comfort food for $5-$7) is there, nearly anything on the menu is a great choice. StrEat Mobile Bistro has excellent vegan options (like Moroccan stew for $8) and great meat dishes, too. The Nosh Box flatbreads ($6) are solid. Dessert can be disappointing; but if you have a sweet tooth, try the salted caramel chocolate cupcake ($2.50) at Cakes Plus. Bring cash (only a couple of the carts take plastic), chairs and sunscreen. Extra napkins and bottled water are a good idea, too. Tables may be available, but don't count on it. Find out where the next Chow Down is going to take place by liking the event on Facebook (C-Town Chow Down in Cleveland).
