Holiday Junction Featuring the Duke Energy Holiday Trains

Model railroads have long been associated with the holidays, from unwrapping "choo-choos" by the tree to watching tiny engines chug through window displays. Duke Energy nurtured the holiday-model railroad connection for more than 60 years by assembling a magical holiday train display in their downtown lobby at Fourth and Main. In 2011, the trains moved to the Cincinnati Museum Center to become part of the center's Holiday Junction exhibit.

The display features more than 50 locomotives, 300 cars and 1,000 feet of track. Thousands of visitors come each year to view the display, which this year will run from Nov. 2, until Jan. 6, 2013. Sharp-eyed visitors (or those who have visited the display for years) can spot nearly every variety of locomotive that plied the railways. Miniature passenger trains roll along, complete with dining cars with tiny tables and chairs, and, of course, a little red caboose. In addition to the trains, houses, stores, factories and farm buildings populate the 1/48th scale countryside.
