Midwest Living Review
Jack Baker's Akron Glass Works is next door to a bike shop and across the street from a couple restaurants. There's not a ton of art happening in this little slip of a neighborhood. But for fans of blown glass, it's a lovely -- and quick -- place to stop and browse. The gallery is small, just one room of glass on display. Most of the works are created by a handful of local artists, led by Baker, who creates artwork reminiscent of Chihuly. If that sounds too pricey, don't fret. We also found simpler glasswork, such as ornaments and drinking glasses, priced at entry-level rates. Visitors who stop by on Saturday evenings are rewarded with a real treat: Baker offers a glass-blowing demonstrations at his in-house studio. Also on Saturdays, a second gallery located in the basement of the building is open for browsing, making this worthy of a weekend visit.
