Midwest Living Review

For people looking for a unique, elegant lodging option in Jamestown, North Dakota, the cabins of Lakeview Meadow can't be missed.

Lakeview Meadow markets itself as a luxury resort on the Jamestown Reservoir north of Jamestown, North Dakota. While "luxury resort" may be a stretch, our stay at one of the six well-appointed cabins was much more memorable and enjoyable than many hotels or B&Bs we've stayed at through the years. The cabins spread across an open plain, a short walk from the water's edge. There is no front desk nor a host onsite. When guests arrive, their cabin has already been prepared for their arrival, with the cabin door left open and the key on the dining table. Each cabin is different in style and size, ranging from the one-bedroom Tuscan cabin ($200/night) to the large two-bedroom English Manor that includes a two-stall garage ($225/night). Our cabin, the Heirloom, had a loft with two bedrooms. The decor fully embraces the cabin style with gas fireplaces and sturdy wood furniture, yet the living area doesn't feel too heavy or masculine (you won't see any taxidermy gracing the taupe-colored walls). Each cabin includes a fully equipped kitchen with like-new appliances, gas fireplace, satellite TV, all bedding and linens, a washer and dryer -- even little items like dish soap and stain remover are there for your use. However, guests will need to bring their own food. Lakeview Meadow is open year-round. In the fall, hunters dominate the cabin reservation list. The summer months bring weddings, family reunions, and couples and families looking for a getaway. If you plan on an extended stay, the staff of Lakeview Meadow will be happy to negotiate a lower rate.
