For a great bison burger, just look for the giant buffalo off I-94 and head to the Buffalo City Grille in Jamestown.

Buffalo City Grille is the premier fine-dining restaurant in downtown Jamestown, with attentive servers, an extensive wine list and a menu featuring many bison items. Sure, the burger costs $10, but with a half pound of locally raised, top-quality bison gracing a kaiser roll, it's worth every penny. Buffalo City Grille sits right on a corner on the main drag. The building has been there since the late 1800s. You'll notice the large bar area, an exposed brick wall running the length of the restaurant and a huge buffalo head hanging over the host station. We were seated in a booth right against the large plate glass windows -- diners can watch people walk by on the sidewalk outside, while walkers-by can see what diners are enjoying. The Buffalo City Grill has two burgers on the menu -- the half-pound house burger made with chopped sirloin for $8, and the half-pound premium bison burger for $10. Side options include fries, sweet potato fries or seasoned vegetables. Add cheese for an extra 75 cents (and they offer no fewer than 5 varieties to choose from!) or add bacon for $1. The thick, half-pound char-grilled burger was served hot off the grill, and the bits of char on the edges contrasted wonderfully to the slightly pink center (just as we asked!), elevating the burger in overall taste and texture. The meat is clearly top-quality. Best of all, it proved a leaner-meat bison burger can still be juicy. The sweet potato fries weren't homemade, but were still delicious.
