Midwest Living Review
Porpoura means “purple” in Italian, a universal color for cancer awareness and a central concept of this Grand Forks coffee house. A percentage of every sale goes to a program called Filling the Gap, which helps low-income Altru Cancer Center patients cover travel, lodging and food expenses incurred during their treatment.
Porpoura also takes its coffee mission seriously, selling only beverages made with certified organic, fair-trade beans. The owners say they like the idea of generating good karma from the choices they make.
The shop is comfy with purple walls, lots of couches, overstuffed chairs and free Wi-Fi. In addition to coffee and tea, customers will find muffins, pastries, biscotti, sandwiches and Italian sodas.
