Midwest Living Review
Situated in a portion of a former J.C. Penney building, Kittson and 3rd is logically named for its geographic coordinates. Owners Nichole Schiller and Tessa Hiney met just four months before the boutique's 2011 opening, when Tessa was selling her handmade jewelry at a local farmers' market.
The shop strikes a good balance between high quality and reasonable pricing. Dresses (including a number of flattering designs by YA Los Angeles) retail for $35 to $45, and scarves in a rainbow of colors are $18 each. The boutique also carries plenty of wardrobe staples like tanks, leggings and sunglasses. Most items include a bit of special detailing, such as a beaded halter in plum or an open-shoulder striped top in fuchsia. Ladies size 14 and up may need to stick to jewelry, handbags and shoes; offerings in larger sizes are somewhat limited.
On-street parking is free for two-hour stretches, plenty of time to shop and browse.
